Gregory Baltoro 75 Technical Pack, Moss Green, Large

Product Description

Its predecessor won countless awards for being the most comfortable, high performance pack. So whymess with a good thing? To make it even better of course. The Baltoro 75 has improved functionality within the feature set, increased pack volume and an updated suspension that carries better and more comfortably than ever before. We didn't think we could improve on perfection, but we dare you to tell us this isn't the best pack you've ever worn.

5Amazing!
By Matthew Hayes
Just got back from a 2 week backpacking trip in the Yosemite backcountry. All I can say about this pack is that it met all my expectations and then some. Very comfortable pack and secure compartments. Everything was easy to access and held up to all kinds of scenarios. The first night was extremely stormy and I kept the pack in my rain fly. It got very muddy and I was very upset that my new pack was all dirty after one night. The weird thing is that after it dried the mud just repelled off and it still looks brand new. Went through a couple waterfalls and narrow rocky places and still was rugged and looks new. The clips are strong and the straps kept everything in place so there was no slippage or swaying. I'm a tall and thin guy (6'2") and it fit perfectly. Made my trip a very relaxing one because it would have been a nightmare with any of the cheaper packs. Glad I purchased it!

4Awsome pack.
By Jordan S. (Veteran)
The pack is comfortable and the shoulder straps and hip belt are padded perfectly. Although, for the money spent buying this bag, still missing some features. The Gregory pack has no good organizational pockets. The pockets are just throw stuff in and that's it. Would have been nice to have had built in mesh holders, so it was good for separating items into specific groups of like items (ie. medications, headlamp and batteries). The Gregory pack has no place to attach your water bladder hose so it just flops around by the shoulder strap. (easily corrected with caribiners) There is also no hook or strap to secure the bladder in the pocket (inside the pack). tied a length of nylon rope between the upper part of the frame so I could clip the bladder to it, to keep it from collapsing in the pocket as water was drank.

Key Features!

1) Pivoting hip belt. Unlike most packs where the hip belt is locked in an upsidedown "T" shape, this one allows for mobility. I carried this pack with about 40lbs (including pack weight) on a 4-day hike that included a fair amount of scrambling, including a long 5.2 climb. The additional flexibility allowed by the pivoting hip belt was a life saver.

2) "Sticky" material at the based of the pack. All previous packs I've owned caused my shirts to ride up over time such that I need to pull the shirt down every 15 mins or so to avoid having the pack on bare skin. The material at the base of this pack prevents that. Small detail, big comfort.

3) Fully adjustable. There are so many different ways to load and secure this pack. This is very handy when you need it as a day pack in the middle of a long trip to investigate an offshoot to your main trail.

4) Hip belt is thick and is molded into a curve. I've had issues in the past with packs being a little more flimsy at the hip belt, meaning that to get the load balanced on my hips correctly, I had to cinch the belt up SO tight that it was tough to breathe.

I would definatley recommend this pack to any avid hiker looking for a great weeklong, or even an awsome weekend pack.

5Gregory Baltoro 75
By J. C. ANDERSON
After reading the reviews and knowing the reputation that Gregory has, I decided on the Baltoro 75 backpack. I wanted comfort first, and the fit and padding on this bag makes this the Cadillac of packs. It may not be the best ventilated bag, but that's my only gripe. The accessibility is second to none, and this was a key factor in a pack for me. The pockets are nice for organizing your gear, and the removable top let's me throw my water bladder, snacks, headlamp and maybe a fleece while leaving my camelbak at home shaving crucial pounds off my overall weight. The pull out water bottle pocket fits my bear spray in a reachable and secure location. After 6 miles of strenuous hiking, I didn't have one bit of discomfort, and during the next 6 miles, I found the sweet spot in the many adjustments and was hooked. Although I had an Osprey 70, and a REI XT-85, this was the bag I plan on keeping till the thing falls apart. Even though it weighs more than most, I feel like you can add 10lbs or more and it still feels lighter than my other packs. Don't base judgement on the bag weight is all I'm saying. I have around 50lbs in mine for a week long trip, and could easily take on more. Gregory has a video on their web site that will help you learn how to adjust the pack for optimal fit. I ended up buying mine at rei after a failed attempt on amazon. Rei will Exchange your purchases no matter what the reason even years later, so its worth the few bucks more in the long run.
